In order to improve the durability of stamping dies, how to select materials correctly?

Different stamping die materials have different strength, toughness and wear resistance. Under certain conditions, the use of advanced materials can increase the durability by several times. Therefore, in order to improve the durability of stamping dies, good materials must be selected.

Toolox series material is a new type of pre hardened tool steel with high toughness, high wear resistance and no internal stress. It has very high purity, very small grain size, very little content of S, P, less carbide content, and very uniform. Because of the special composition design, the Toolox series materials are very excellent. The surface hardness of Toolox44 can reach more than HRC65, the surface hardness of Toolox40 can reach more than HRC62, and the surface hardness of Toolox33 can reach more than HRC58 and the depth is up to 1.8mm at the depth.

The above characteristics of Toolox series materials make Toolox series materials have special advantages in some stamping dies.

1) the thicker steel plate (typical case punching shear thickness is 35mm steel plate), stainless steel plate, and non-ferrous metal plate stamping mould, the typical air conditioning fin die and so on.

2) tensile mold, stainless steel drawing die.

3) cold extrusion die. Cold extrusion of 304 stainless steel, thickness of 0.5mm or above, replace DC53 and other materials, the effect is very good.

4) large stamping formwork required for high dimensional stability.

Forging and heat treatment of stamping die parts reasonably.

While choosing material for high quality stamping die, reasonable forging and heat treatment for material with the same material and different properties is one of the main ways to improve the durability of stamping die. For example, when the heat is overheated during heating, it will not only make the workpiece brittle too large, but also easily cause deformation and cracking in cooling and reduce the durability. Therefore, in the manufacture of stamping die, we must have a reasonable grasp of the heat treatment process.

Toolox is a quenched and tempered steel, which is directly prehardened by the steel plant. It no longer needs heat treatment, with appropriate surface treatment (such as nitriding), the high toughness of the Toolox matrix material and the high hardness of the upper surface layer, which can achieve excellent results.
