The most common mold repair method

Plastic mold processing is an important tool for manufacturing products. The quality of the mold will directly affect the quality of the product. In order to prevent the die from collapse, deformation, wear and even break in the process of use.

Repair of 1. argon arc welding

The arc between the continuous welding wire and the workpiece is used as the heat source, and the gas arc shielded by the torch nozzle is used for welding. At present, argon arc welding is a common method and can be applied to most of the main metals, including carbon steel and alloy steel. Molten metal inert gas welding is suitable for stainless steel, aluminum, magnesium, copper, titanium, zirconium and nickel alloy. Because of low price, it is widely used in mold repair welding. But the welding heat affects large area and large solder joint. At present, laser welding has been gradually replaced in the repair of precision die.

2. brush plating repair

The brush plating technology uses a special DC power supply equipment, the anode of the power supply is plated with the pen, as the anode of the brush plating; the negative electrode of the power supply is used as the cathode for the brush plating. The pen usually uses high pure graphite block as the anode material, the cotton and the wear resistant cotton sheath are wrapped outside the graphite block. Voltage, and the plating pen invaded the plating bath to a certain relative motion speed back and forth on the surface of the repaired workpiece, and maintain a certain pressure until a uniform and ideal metal deposition layer is formed. The gold ion in the plating solution diffuses to the surface of the workpiece under the action of the electric field force due to the position of the plated pen and the surface of the repaired workpiece. On the surface, the electrons are reduced to metal atoms, and these metal atoms are deposited and crystallized to form a coating, which is the uniform deposition layer needed on the repaired cavity surface of the plastic mold cavity.

3. laser surfacing repair

Laser welding is the welding of laser beams generated by high-power coherent monochromatic photon streams as heat sources. Such welding methods usually include continuous power laser welding and pulsed power laser welding. The advantage of laser welding is that it does not need to be carried out in vacuum. The drawback is that the penetration is not as strong as that of electron beam welding. Precise energy control can be achieved when laser welding is applied, so the welding of precision components can be realized. It can be applied to many metals, especially the welding of refractory metals and dissimilar metals. At present, it has been widely used for the repair of mould.
