Because of the new technology and the development of aluminium formwork, especially for the design of injection molding, aluminium mould is also more and more commonly used in blow molding, R.I.M. Mould, rubber mould, structure foaming mould and R.T.M. Although it may not be suitable for all applications, the fact is that its use becomes more prevalent. Everyone wants to prolong the mold's production life, such as the use of traditional tool steel manufacturing molds, the surface of the use of hard chromium or nickel metal plating, or the use of more specialized engineering coatings, this can prevent its surface wear or corrosion, to promote its better demoulding. Thereafter, in order to seek the same objective, the aluminum mould was introduced and a practical solution was found.

In order to be able to produce a good decorative part of the injection molding, in addition to extending the service life of the mould, manufacturers also hope that the surface of the aluminum mould can maintain a certain degree of gloss, so it is recommended that the nickel spray coating process, because this method can help to prolong the life of die surface finish, make its production of decorative parts relatively easy.

Because the texture of aluminum is softer, if the surface coating is not used, it is easy to wear plastic and accelerate the damage degree, thus changing the gloss of the injection molding parts. The non-plating nickel coating can increase the mould surface by 50RC, so that it is sufficient to protect and prolong the gloss and structure of the mould surface. Non-plating nickel coating can obtain better surface finish quality than aluminium material itself, but it must be pointed out that before the mould can be electroplating, some surface treatments are needed first. For example, in order to enable it to achieve the quality level of the lens, it is recommended that the surface of the aluminium mould be machined to the SPIA-3 level finish level, and then before the further polishing, the 0.0003~0.0005 high phosphorus non-plating nickel coating is applied to achieve the diamond grade finish level.
